Good video, says it all.

There was no nation, just a bunch of dispersed and disconnected rudimentary hunter gatherers who had little to do with other groups outside of their local areas.

Series of Invasions by Invaders who then Invaded constantly to take the food sources.... nothing different about THE Invasion - the sort of D-Day of Oz - apart from the fact that it brought organised civilisation, cultivation, science, and legal protections with it.

What I termed the Aboriginal Imperialism concept - whereby the Great Head Mobber with many spears at his back (ouch - et tu, Brutamagunyah) would look upon the silent majesty of the sweeping New Homeland - and declare - "This Is All Mine!" ... and then would take it by the spear, murdering the locals along the way.

Then - looking over his shoulder - he saw another Divine Group coming over the horizon... and so it went on and on.

And who is to say that they cannot develop a sense of nationhood post settlement?  Tsk, tsk, tsk...  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

Someone said we could not judge a person's Aboriginality on their skin colour.  Why isn't that applied in the matter of Pascoe?  Tsk, tsk, tsk...   Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

Yes - it's called Australian.... tsk, tsk, tsk.

So now some hypothetical 'sense of nationhood' means they were and are a nation?

I say. Hand the country over to the Cheer Mob.
Let them feed 26 million people, run the country, economy, etc. 26 million people will sit on the Dole and ask for handouts. I bet the Aborigines will capitulate or the 26 million natives will uprise in revolution.
It can't be said then, that they weren't given a fair go, in the eyes of the world.

Anyway. Aboriginalism here is a portal to Africa, as is Mohommedism for the Middle East. People don't want to live here as if it's Africa. It's bad enough this country is operating as if it's a part of Asia, in the first place.   Roll Eyes

Is that a direct offshoot of Pascoism - or a separate branch of learning?

Yes - it's called Australian.... tsk, tsk, tsk.

A nation that has essentially ignored their development throughout it's short history.

Quote:
So now some hypothetical 'sense of nationhood' means they were and are a nation?

They are as much a nation as any other.  Most nations consist of disparate cultural and language groups.  Switzerland has three distinct language and cultural groups.  Italy has many cultural groups.  France many.  Belgium two. China hundreds, India many.  Tsk, tsk, tsk...  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes
