'Mercenarianism' does not warrant any political benefits like POW exchanges.
If Australia bails this Australian merc' out from Russia in any way possible. It condemns the Government to 'supporting' other Australians to go to the Ukraine War as 'Mercenaries'.
Especially when the Government has been saying Australians should NOT go to fight as Mercs in Ukraine.
Everything must be kept 'official' in dealing with the Ukraine War.
Mercenary 'Cowboys' are more like Black Marketing.

If this Australian is exchanged or released because Spend a Penny Wong paid $20m of taxpayers money for his release.
Then it will open the floodgates for more Australians to go to Ukraine and operate as Mercenaries (sometimes paid more than what the ADF/Govt pays its soldiers here in Australia) - knowing they have a Get Out of Gaol Free Card now.

The guy, a teacher - has bricks in his head.
Most likely he'll get a sledgehammer execution.
