Jimmy meant well, it's just that his liberal mind set got in the way.

Jimmy Carter wanted to be a good man but his liberalism got in the way. He was a weak President that cause a lot of death and danger all over the World. He should have supported the Shah of Iran, he didn't and we had our Embassy seized and Americans held hostage for 444 days.
He offered to surrender to the Soviet Union
to prevent an all out nuclear war but Congress wouldn't approve. The Media called it unilateral disarmament. During his term the dollar lost half of its value so everything including houses and motor vehicles doubled in price.

He offered to surrender to the Soviet Union ?

The first I heard of that.   Undecided

You'll believe it and you'll like it, Bobi. Give in, dear - to your overwhelming desire to obey.

Mort's onto it.

You?

Yes he did, his belief was that if the Soviet Union was the only nuclear super power the world would be a safer place. Better Red then dead was the saying.

That sounds like bullshit to me.

Suit yourself, I watched it when it happened and even wrote my Congressman begging him not to support it.

If you can't extend the same curtesy don't complain.

Jimmy Carter was a weak President and because of it the World suffered during his time in Office.

If the Media loved Donald Trump you would too and I would still judge him by his actions.

I would like to think I would behave as I did with Thatcher and just not comment. Trump would be a different case and yes people will be very critical.

He does look like being the first and hopefully only criminal insurrectionist unqualified to hold office President. His second failed term will never hold any credibility.

Still I likely don't comment on his passing.

Nor I. When Mort's DL goes, I doubt we'll feel the need to make stuff up about him selling the US out to the Russians.

Which actions ? His sexual assaults, his insurrection, his criminal convictions, his multiple impeachments, his sex with porn stars and playmates etc, even just his cheating at golf Maybe his refusing to pay contractors or ripping off people through his pretend university or his charity, Trumps 7 X bankruptcy, or something else on his long long list like stealing hundreds of secret documents ?

I have to say that there is a lack of evidence to support this claim as clearly you hold him responsible for none of his actions to this point.

Mr. Carter is the only Naval Academy graduate to win the presidency, though many have tried in the years since he occupied the Oval Office.

Umm, was WW2 still in progress in 1947? Just wondering... Undecided

Quote:
President James Earl "Jimmy" Carter graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1946 with distinction, after which he was assigned to USS Wyoming (E-AG 17) as an ensign. After completing two years of surface ship duty, Carter applied for submarine duty. He served as executive officer, engineering officer, and electronics repair officer on the submarine SSK-1. When Admiral Hyman G. Rickover (then a captain) started his program to create nuclear-powered submarines, Carter wanted to join the program and was interviewed and selected by Rickover. Carter was promoted to lieutenant and from 3 November 1952 to 1 March 1953, he served on temporary duty with the Naval Reactors Branch, U.S. Atomic Energy Commission, Washington, D.C., to assist "in the design and development of nuclear propulsion plants for naval vessels."

From 1 March to 8 October 1953, Carter was preparing to become the engineering officer for USS Seawolf (SSN-575), one of the first submarines to operate on atomic power. However, when his father died in July 1953, Carter resigned from the Navy and returned to Georgia to manage his family interests. Carter was honorably discharged on 9 October 1953 and transferred to the retired reserve at his request with the rank of lieutenant. The Seawolf-class submarine Jimmy Carter (SSN-23) is named for the 39th president. Read President Carter's complete biography.

President James Earl Carter passed away on 29 December 2024.

https://www.history.navy.mil/browse-by-topic/people/presidents/carter.html

It appears that he was in training during the war, he did around 2 or 3 years on navy ships and 4 or 5 years on submarines, this would have been cold war action. He then did about 2 years working on Nuclear submarine research and development. Sounds like a pretty good contribution. Submarines were virtually front line during the cold war let alone how dangerous nuclear development was in the 1950's.

He graduated a 3 year U.S. Naval Academy course in 1946. It was a reduced 4 year course during war time. He was effectively in navy training from 1943. So in the navy but not on active service.

All disproved except his consensual sex with hot women and some of his business ventures failed.

Nothing here is disproven in fact the opposite.

His university rort resulted in a court imposed fine of $2 million.

2 States have found him guilty of Insurrection and he was impeached for insurrection and found guilty. The house investigation into Jan 6 also found he has committed insurrection. Even the supreme court sidestepped the issue.

He was found liable for sexual abuse.

He is a Convicted criminal on 32 counts.
