Just in case you missed my last edit:

https://www.ozpolitic.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1735788951/12#12

48.9% is close enough to 50% so I'll still take that white flag.

Thanks again.  Smiley

Meanwhile...

... be afraid.

Be very afraid.

Bird flu could merge with seasonal flu to make mutated virus that could spread among humans, CDC warns

"Could merge"?

More like "will merge" (if it hasn't already).

It does seem to be moving that way.

A wet market in China could well be the breeding ground of a version of the virus that will transmit from human to human. Good luck.

Could be, JM.

And, on top of H5N1 we now have this to worry about:

What is HMPV? China steps up emergency measures amid new virus outbreak

Quote:
China is experiencing a surge in infections of a respiratory virus, leading to overcrowded hospitals, emergency measures, and public concerns about an outbreak.

The virus, identified as human metapneumovirus (HMPV), has seen cases spiking across northern Chinese provinces this winter, particularly among children.

The outbreak comes five years after the world was first alerted to the emergence of a novel coronavirus in Wuhan, China, which later turned into a global pandemic with seven million deaths reported.

Definitely a big cause for concern.

Of course, by the time governments worldwide get around to doing something about this it will probably have spread around the world. Just like what happened with Covid.

Oh, by the way... it's great to see you and Bobby are so "into science" at the moment... lol..  Grin

(Edit: I see you've deleted your 'duplicate' Science thread in C&C since last night in case anyone's wondering what my above comment is about).

Sounds like a 'replay' of Covid at the start of 2020, doesn't it?

"Nothing to worry about".

I'll get back to you on that.

Shouldn't take long with the flu season 'in full swing' in the northern hemisphere (especially the US) and the very real possibility of bird flu "merging" with the seasonal flu.

If it hasn't already happened... and there's a pretty good chance it already has.

Oh, look.

It's gone from "nothing to worry about" and "no/low risk to the general population", etc. to this:

Bird Flu Warning Over New Virus Risk: 'Significant Public Health Concern'

Quote:
Combined infection with bird flu and human flu could lead to mutations of new viruses that could have dangerous public health consequences, agencies have warned.

As I've said - it feels like I'm back at the start of 2020 again.

When aquascoot's replies reach the stage where they're mostly comments about incontinence pads, undies and eyesight allegedly affected by Covid vaccines it's a sure sign that he needs to head off to the store and buy a few more white flags to send out.

Smiley

Oh, by the way... I've had 6 Covid vaccines, not 7. I'll be getting my 7th in April. My aunt will be getting her 7th tomorrow.

Add "and lame replies to Bobby's silly memes" to that.

And you can also add another white flag. Thanks.  Smiley
