Strange. So why did Trump pay his lawyers to pester the judge to drop the charges?

Why did Merchan have to write a long-winded ruling about the illegality of judges overturning jury verdicts, citing case law and the Constitution?

Just having a laugh, was he?

I'm guessing you didn't donate to his legal fund.

they just see that trump got charged 34 times and they think thats the weaponisation of the judiciary and they think thats BS and so ANY legal sanctioning of trump makes him MORE popular.

Exaggerate much?

Half of Americans agree with a Manhattan jury's verdict that Donald Trump was guilty of 34 felony charges related to falsifying business records to cover up an alleged affair with an adult film actress. Another 30% disagree, and 19% of Americans aren't sure.

A plurality of Americans, 50%, think former President Donald Trump's guilty verdict on all 34 counts in his hush money trial was correct, a new ABC News/Ipsos poll finds, and almost as many, 49%, think he should end his 2024 presidential campaign over the result.

The latest survey from Reuters/Ipsos, which began fielding following the announcement of a guilty verdict in the New York criminal trial against Donald Trump regarding hush money payments, shows that a majority of Americans believe the prosecution was about upholding the rule of law and not politically motivated.

And so - they re-elected him.

The majority of voters on election day did not re-elect him.

Correct.  Not anywhere near close to 50% even.  In fact, 1/3rd of eligible voters did not vote at all.

Yes. Nobody is disputing the fact that he was elected.

The point is that most Americans don't want him as their President.

So, back to the topic: Trump is a convicted felon (and adjudicated rapist) - that fact will never be erased from history.

Incorrect.

The votes say he won the electoral college and the popular vote.

However, the majority of voters did not vote for him on election day.

He is the President, but he is a very unpopular one without majority support.

Do a survey and get back to us with the results.

The point is Trump is a convicted felon and most Americans don't want him as their President.

So let's see he won the popular vote over Harris. It doesn't matter about voting percentage overall, even Joe didn't get the majority of voters on election day. That must mean he wasn't well liked either.

In 2020 the US adult population  was 258.3 million. 158 million voted. Joe got 81 million. So Joe's percentage was 81/258.3 or 31%. Wink

I believe your previous take on doing crime involved doing time, Panther.

What does your much loved Constitution have to say about sentencing criminals for felonies?

There was no crime.

There was invention of crimes.

This, you see, is where your cult leads you, old boy. You've learned you can deny reality altogether. The response is for everybody to gather round you, all erstwhile and sincere, spelling out the facts and helping you to see the light. You love all that.

It's a form of shit and run, your old favourite. Take a shit on someone's doorstep, knock and run off, having a right old giggle as you go. They're left at the door:

Hello? I'm sure I heard something. Who is it? Oh no, I've stepped in it. Those kids! I'll get you!

But we know, old boy, and we know you know too. You can just repeat the lie. What are they going to do? They're standing there with your shit all over their shoe - what are they going to do?

This case is so obviously politically motivated, and even America’s corrupt media are at a loss to defend this: “An Associated Press analysis of nearly 70 years of similar cases showed Trump’s case stands apart: It’s the only big business found that was threatened with a shutdown without a showing of obvious victims and major losses.”

FFS, if you are going to cite a Link, please bung a credible one up!  This from your Link:

Quote:
The case was decided by a judge who is personally bizarre and professionally incompetent and adversarial.

There is ZERO evidence to support that crap.
