Now that depends. It also bought Florida, California, Arizona, New Mexico, Manhattan and a whole bunch of land it swapped for beads and blankets.

In fact, apart from a handful of states it seized in a revolution, it's pretty hard to find much land USA didn't buy.

Alaska was a deal between a willing seller and a willing buyer. Not comparable to Greenland at all, especially as the US military probably only wants some bases that would likely be granted to them if they asked.

The US has air force, space force and naval bases in Greenland already. I guess Trumpy just has a drug damaged, ageing brain.
