It's been a US agenda to take Greenland and Panama long before Trump entered politics. He's just doing his job under advice from the Military.
No, dear, he's taking advice from the last person he talked to. He'll forget it immediately and move on.
DL never listened to military advice anyway. He's called for his last military chief to be executed for treason, remember?
The one thing cult worshippers ignore is the threat to their own self interest. For all of the Trump/Elon focus on Greenland, the Pacific is being left to Chi-na.
Australia has been left to police the South Pacific all on its own. South East Asian countries are doing deals with China, selling off their real estate and watching the Middle Kingdom quietly expand in influence. Countries like Laos and Cambodia have become little more than Chinese vassal states.
It won't be long until China makes a serious move on Taiwan - a big deal for a country with a population of 23 mil and 20% of the world's microchip industry.
Forget Panama, China is gaining control over the shipping lanes of the South China Sea. The Panama Canal will always be subject to US influence, the US government doesn't need to own it. The Pacific is another matter entirely: the more the US gets entangled in other areas, the less security we have in Australia.
This has been made clear in the case of Ukraine, which was granted a US/NATO security assurance in 1993, in return for handing its nukes over to Russia. That agreement meant something to Sleepy Joe and Congress, who agreed to chip in for Ukraine's defence after the Russian invasion in 2022.
It means nothing to your DL, erected prez in 2024. He's already signalling Taiwan can go get fu
cked. I'd suggest the ANZUS treaty means very little to him too.
Australia's interests rely on the post-war order your DL wants to end. He sees global relations as a set of competing military/economic power grabs. We rely on the goodwill and shared interests of integrated economies. Our entire business model relies on it, as has the US for the past 70 years.
We rely on free trade. Trump's election saw our dollar drop significantly, and we're now staring down recession if Chinese development - and exports - don't pick up.
The threat of trade wars and rising tariffs rings alarm bells on the ASX and the RBA. Your DL's agenda is poison to Australian prosperity.
Australia's very existence relies on free trade and travel. Australia's an island. We're an outward-looking nation of immigrants that relies upon foreign trade. We've done so since 1788. We became more so after the reforms of the Hawke/Keating era. We've relied on these things since the British Empire, through to the rise of East Asia. We export primary products - wool, iron ore - and we import manufactured products - clothes, cars, building materials. We even import most of our oil. We keep less than three weeks in refined oil reserves.
We need those Pacific shipping lanes open, safe and secure, just like every other Pacific nation.
So for all your devotion to foreign white nationalism, remember your place. We're Aussies. Your DL is not out for your interests. His brand of competitive global rivalry and insular protectionism is antithetical to your own interests and survival.
In any other time in our history, such subservience to foreign autocrats would render you a traitor. Nazis were rounded up in WWII and communists were kept under watch until the 1990s. Even "papists" were once on the nose.
DL's infiltration of a mainstream party in the US doesn't make him much less dangerous than any other far-right extremist, KKK or Aryan Nation leader. We saw his embrace of the Proud Boys, banned as a terrorist organization in New Zealand, and we saw him direct them to the Capitol on Jan 6. There, the peaceful transfer of power was blocked for the first time in US history.
None of this is in the interest of Australians. We don't want Australia made great again. We're fine just the way we are.
