Oh look, the old boy's got a new tattoo.

How cute. I hope they got the spelling right, old chap.

How thoroughly deadly.

Sorry, but how are the union culpable?

The union entered an agreement to reduce numbers for more pay.

"The fires erupted a few months after the Los Angeles Fire Department’s budget was slashed by $17.6 million, to $819 million. The cuts led to the elimination of 58 vacant positions."

...

"And some Los Angeles city leaders are in the process of trying to claw back positions that were removed in the recent budget. That would include positions that support the maintenance of firefighting rigs. Right now, only 78% of the department’s fleet is operational, but its goal should be 90%, according to a report from Crowley seeking restoration of those positions."

Any reason why, dear?

The article was too long. Couldn't find it?

There were 79 civilian staff as well as 58 firefighter positions lost. Only the 58 firefighter positions were the responsibility of the Union. Or do you think they cut despite union pressure to keep them?

Thanks, Lee. You may have misunderstood the question.

How are the union culpable for the fires?

Cheers.

I never said the fires. I said they reduced their numbers. So tell me how to effectively fight fires with fewer personnel.  Roll Eyes

You really are a clutz.

10 Things That Caused The California Wildfires

To streamline the finger-pointing process, The Babylon Bee has compiled the following list of likely causes of the California wildfires:

Lack of diversity in the fire department: Nothing causes more devastation than placing the most qualified candidates in positions based on merit.

Capitalism: When was the last time you heard about wildfires happening in a socialist utopia? Exactly.

Plastic straws: The effects of you drinking your iced frappés through plastic straws can be felt across the country.

Steve: That guy is bad news.

January 6: Further evidence that the attempted insurrection is a wound that will never heal.

Racism: The flames of a wildfire are nothing compared to the scourge of white supremacy.

Billy Joel: He claims he didn't start the fire. But we know better.

The Jews: Something bad happened? You know who to blame.

Negative reviews of The Acolyte: None of this would have happened if Star Wars fans weren't so filled with hate.

Donald Trump: They tried to warn us about him. Now look what happened.

Repugnant MAGA Republican Marjorie Taylor Greene believes that to be true.

She says Californian wildfires are started by Jewish space lasers.

You said, did you? Where have you shown how the union have reduced the number of LGBITQ firepersons?

We'll reserve the judgements for your response thanks, Lee.

Stick to the memes, old boy. Have you blamed the Jigaboos yet? I imagine they were concocting some primitive black magic over in deepest darkest Ghana, no?

The Muselman - you've been rather quiet on him of late. Always absolutely never ever, remember.

The trannies and hommers? Strange. We remember when you were so supportive, back when the Muselman was hanging them off cranes.

Of course you won't blame the relentless rise in temperature, we get that, but do you know?

Nor's Elon. How about that? He's suddenly retweeting DL's talking points, banning all mention of global warming on X.

That's what joining the Trump train does to you, ja? The full lobotomy.

How does it feeeeel?

Right. You've been given the opportunity three times and declined.

There were no cuts to firefighting staff in the 2024 budget and three classes of new recruits were funded.

https://www.nytimes.com/2025/01/09/us/la-fire-department-budget-bass.html

So now we know. Union negotiations had nothing to do with any cuts to front line staff or any of the other stuff you made up.

We have it on record. You're fake news.

The old boy?

Oh, that's easy. He'd exploit an environmental disaster to regurgitate his DL's lies.

Then, after he's caught out, he'd follow through to steps b & c, before throwing a hissy and leaving the thread for good - poof!

Intelligence and integrity, innit.

Then produce the record where it says no firefighter cuts. Wink

BTW - "The LAFD has hired, filled, and graduated hundreds of new firefighters and paramedics, bolstering their ranks with dedicated individuals ready to serve Los Angeles. "

How can you fill positions if there were no vacancies? Wink

"The cuts, Crowley wrote in a memo from July 2024, resulted from eliminating 58 positions, adjusting sworn salary accounts, and removing one-time expenses."

Gavin Newsom Cut $100M From Fire Prevention Budget Before California Fires

Newsweek
https://www.newsweek.com/gavin-newsom-cut-100m-fire-prevention-budget-before-california-fires-2012980

However overall, the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE)'s wildfire protection budget has increased sharply from $1.1 billion in 2014 to $3 billion in 2023, much of which took place after Newsom became governor in 2019.
