Gay Choirs, Trans Cafes And Social Justice Art:
What LA Spent Money On While Cutting Its Fire Budget

Stop posting fake news, Bobbi.

The budget for the fire department in Fiscal Year 2024 - 2025 increased from $819.6 million to $895.6 million.

When compared to the previous year's budget (Fiscal Year 2023 - 2024), this current year's fire department budget in total is larger by $58.4 million.

Gavin Newsom Cut $100M From Fire Prevention Budget Before California Fires

Own goal, old boy.

From your very own link:

"However overall, the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE)'s wildfire protection budget has increased sharply from $1.1 billion in 2014 to $3 billion in 2023, much of which took place after Newsom became governor in 2019."

Over 10 years. For california

Last year it was cut, as Newsweek showed.

Here's a thing for you... since 2012 people have had the right to have water tanks on their properties.... I have yet to see one tank on any burnt out property on film....

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9qHRC0NU6Kg

With our next move - it's going to be two 5000 galloners in the backyard - you won't catch me drinking town water... I thought it was a human right to drink clean and potable water not some gunk that leaves a white film all over your car after rinsing ...... and the gardens love it.... and full solar and batteries... BIG batteries - I might just shut them off if they get too toey with their cheating prices....

Good to have you back, Lee. What does the trans firepersons' union (they/them) have to say about that?

"On July 1, 2024, $104,829,960 was set aside in the City's General Fund's Non-Departmental Unappropriated Balance (UB) for 'Department Payroll Reconciliation' to cover citywide payroll changes (these funds are non-departmental meaning they're not assigned to any specific department)."

"Our City's accounting system shows no indication that funds have been transferred to cover the raises in the agreement, so far at least. ... we see no indication that funds have been transferred for the Fire Department's raises."

https://leadstories.com/hoax-alert/2025/01/fact-check-la-mayor-karen-bass-did-no...

So the funds are not there for specific department. Therefore they aren't budgeted to any specific department.

"On Jan. 9, 2025, Ben Ceja, an assistant city administrative officer, told VERIFY that the city’s General Fund budget for this fiscal year includes an undisclosed amount to cover the potential increases to existing staffing costs in an account outside the fire department's budget."

https://www.verifythis.com/article/news/verify/money-verify/yes-los-angeles-cut-...

And still unpaid 9 January.

So exactly how much will eventually flow through. It is NOT budgeted to them.

So WHO IS responsible if

Not the Governor
Not the mayor
Not the fire department
Not the lack of water (diverted to save little fishy mcfishface)
Not the empty reservoirs, the dry hydrants
Not the weather forcasters Not anyone in LA or California.

Oh, I know, I know! TRUMP, of course.
But he is not in any office yet.

Oh, details, details.  He is responsible. Must be. Somehow.

Oh, there was no Santa Ana Winds before.

The name Santa Ana wind became nationally known following a sensationalized 1901 wire story about wind damage

Why don't you ask them? You align very well apparently, from your posts. Wink

I have. They said they didn't do anything to cut staff. They said no firepeople were cut. On the contrary, they said, the city budgeted for 220 new recruits.

So what evidence do you have for saying the union lobbied to cut staff?

You must have something, shurely.
