Of course DEI is relevant and inpactful.

Why else pour millions of dollars and emotional capital into it if it was really irrelevant?

Of course it is relevant.

Removing all the funding for it is also relevant.

It is a toxic scheme.

Please show where I have posted pictures. What article about unions that are unrelated? You are getting wierder and wierder.Karnal wrote on Jan 17th, 2025 at 6:14pm:

What? You haven't seen letters to the editor about the need to stop reduction burns? You notice I didn't say Greens as that seems to trigger some. Wink

"When it comes to reducing the extent of bushfires, scientists disagree on the best way to do it. Hazard-reduction burning (also known as “prescribed burning” or “controlled burning”) is controversial and, depending on the scientific paper, it’s shown to either be effective or not work at all."

Houses expand in hot winters but Greens refuse to do slow burns of verandahs and outdoor dunnies (the outback). Controlled burn-offs of painted windows and US flags would protect Malibu, rainbow hydrants and gay coffee shops. It's wealthy dole-bludgers who prevent mansions being trimmed and pruned, mulched and ploughed in.

Never. Nor have you.

You've heard about them in the same News Ltd media you say you can't get in WA.

You know, the same media where you hear about unions, and reservoirs, and DEI, but do you know?

No "eviro type" has said any such thing. None of it.

You've been farmed. Would you like to be irrigated too?

You mean the West Australian? I have never said I don't get it. The same as Channel 7.

You seem very confused. But that is your normal state. Grin Grin Grin Grin

Really? So enviro types don't repeat what their selected scientists say? You are too stupid for words. Wink

No, no enviro types at all. You've probably spent the last half hour furiously trying to find one.

Same as your Winter bushfires, same as your DEI unions, same as your global cooling, same as every debunked claim you've made in this thread alone.

Note how I said "enviro types" to allow for limpwristed disclaimers and endless quote bombs.

Cunning, no?

Of course, there’s opposition to hazard-reduction burns, it’s inevitable in any democratic society where interests and priorities clash. But does it actually dictate policy? No, it doesn’t.

This narrative about “green groups” obstructing burns is just another convenient scapegoat, much like the obsession with DEI in the US. It’s a diversion tactic, a way to ignore the more inconvenient and pressing reality of climate change.

The shrinking window for safe, effective hazard-reduction burns isn’t the result of environmentalist resistance, it’s the consequence of hotter temperatures, drier landscapes, and longer fire seasons, conditions exacerbated by a warming climate. Add to this the increasing frequency of lightning strikes igniting tinderbox-like vegetation, and you get the catastrophic bushfire conditions that are fast becoming our new normal.

But acknowledging this doesn’t suit your worldview, does it Lee?

No, far easier to point the finger at “green opposition” than to grapple with the structural and environmental shifts driving these crises. Keep the blame-game alive if it helps you sleep better, but don’t mistake it for reality.

Dear Mr Sad,

we need to ask why those houses burnt so easily?

Why weren't they made of reinforced concrete?

It seems like they made out of match wood and cardboard.   Roll Eyes

Short and sweet.

Just a short presentation of what went wrong, and why.
....in the view of The Heritage Foundation.

1/ FAILURE, in local land management, to reduce local fuel loads.

2/ FAILURE, in maintaining local fire management capabilities [i.e. accessibility to an adequate WATER supply].

3/ Tick, tick, tick, tick, tick,   ....lots of DEI hires,
to prove that SoCal is totally WOKE [...and totally lacking in    actual    competency].

but its the state’s and LA’s own climate and DEI policies that have actually helped make the wildfires a lot worse.

There you go, you see? Bobi blames the lack of regulations.

So guess what - right on cue, Republicans in Congress want to ban disaster recovery payments to Californians, without conditions.

Now, that's a first.

Such patriots, no?

California has stringent building codes, particularly for fire-prone areas (fire-resistant materials and defensible space requirements etc). These are often stricter than federal standards.

Do you know who spent a Presidential term trying to reduce building regulations in a claimed broader effort to reduce what he characterised as bureaucratic red tape that hindered economic growth and development?

The problem is they experience firestorms. Some fires grew so large and intense that they created their own weather systems, with embers carried far ahead of the main fire, igniting spot fires.

You've seen the footage right, of how intense things were?

I think Bill Burr has made some great commentary about people like you:

I'm starting to get your drift. All this hype about wind is false. There was none and if there was it was irrelevant. Forget the wind and look at facts. You may be right.
