After the affect(the fires) the LAFD Chief pointed the finger at the mayor for slashing her budget by $17.6 million.

Crap.. there were no finding cuts. Funding went up. The only thing on hold was the money set aside for wages, and that was because they were still in negotiations 'over pay rises' for the year. Even that wasn't 'cut' ... it was just put aside into a separate account until the negotiations were over and it could be properly allocated

Indeed.

The budget for the fire department in Fiscal Year 2024 - 2025 increased from $819.6 million to $895.6 million.

When compared to the previous year's budget (Fiscal Year 2023 - 2024), this current year's fire department budget in total is larger by $58.4 million.

According to a document from the city administrative officer, the increase in this year's budget was approved specifically to meet salary and benefit increases included in the new union contract.

False.

Nope, it's true.

And:

Overall, the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE)'s wildfire protection budget has increased sharply from $1.1 billion in 2014 to $3 billion in 2023, much of which took place after Newsom became governor in 2019.
