Australia Still Battling Egg Shortage

Australia still battling egg shortage as some supermarket limits return
The supermarket giant says it is working closely with suppliers in light of a shortage of an Australian staple.

Empty egg shelves have been spotted inside Australian supermarkets and some purchase limits have been reintroduced amid an ongoing egg shortage.

The shortage stemmed from bird flu outbreaks and high seasonal demand, the Australian egg industry said.   Sad

The shortage first rocked Australian farmers and grocers six months ago, with some supermarkets imposing a purchase limit on eggs.

Fast-food chains were also impacted, with McDonald’s forced to strip back its beloved breakfast menu late last year.

Over the past week, Australian shoppers have spotted empty shelves and taken to social media to share their concern over the shortage.

Purchase limits are in place at some supermarkets amid an ongoing egg shortage.

“Yes, the other day at Jordan Springs NSW Woolies there were zero eggs available. Coles had some but they were limited to two cartons per customer,” one shopper said.

“None at my local or major Woolies, but I walked across to the Asian supermarket and they had plenty,” another added.

While supply started to pick up in spring, more strain was placed on egg availability over the Christmas period due to high demand.

“Australia’s egg industry is continuing to work to boost supply marketwide,” a Woolworths spokesperson told NewsWire.

“Our egg supply has continued to improve and we are working closely with our suppliers to source as many eggs as possible.”

Australian Eggs managing director Rowan McMonnies said national egg production still remained strong despite the challenges.

“It didn’t always feel like it, but national egg production was still strong despite the avian influenza losses, with egg farmers producing 18 million every day at the lowest point,” he said.

McMonnies urged anyone concerned about availability to buy eggs in advance, as they have a lengthy shelf life, and to “look a bit broader than your usual store”.

“The disruption means a few stores will run low but others will be stacked to the ceiling as there are still eggs about,” he said.

NewsWire has contacted Australian Eggs for further comment.

Yes - i was reading a study recently whereby they tested eggs on young kids.. hundreds of them ..

Over 12 months 2 years - the kids that had one egg a day (I think it was)  had an IQ 8 points higher than the ones that didn’t have the eggs…

Eggs are one of the healthiest foods you can have…

So watch as governments around the world try to get rid of them - or try to stop you from having your own..

Look at the UK for instance - i think they have to register them now and the latest thing I’ve heard is that they have to keep them “indoors”… in a really short period of time  - it’s deliberate

You have to ask yourself why they are doing this..

There's a few people around here who probably don't need to worry about losing too many iQ points if governments try to get rid of eggs or stop people from having their own.  Roll Eyes

The shortage is caused by H5N1 "bird flu" which is about to become the next big human pandemic due to governments worldwide (especially the US government) making the same "mistakes" they did with Covid and it will make SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) look like that "mild respiratory virus" or "just a cold" that nearly everyone believes it now is.

"Full Nazi Germany"

Because of eggs?

Grin Grin Cheesy

People like you really crack me up sometimes with your absurd conspiracy theories and anti vaccination stupidity.

Mind you, it's all fun and games until someone gets hurt (or killed).

This is where the line should be drawn in my opinion.

Dangerous misinformation that could end up killing people with cancer.

And, no - I am not blaming you specifically because, as usual, all of the antivaxxers and conspiracy nutters seem to jump onto things like this almost immediately.

It's like some sort of Borg Collective striving for total stupidity (and you're all very close to achieving it).

I politely suggest the best way forward is we remove one tier of government and replace the politicians and there staff with chickens?

It will improve everyone lifestyle.

Other than that of the now unemployed politicians and staff.

When you see how much money they made off covid I can imagine how desperate they are for H5N1 to be ready for dispersion.
