Attorney General Mark Dreyfus
Jan 15th, 2025 at 10:46am

This could go in either federal politics or thinking globally, but I think it belongs here as it is an example of incompetence of Albanese.

He actually left yesterday for Israel.

But what is the point of the trip? People inside the Labor government say it is a trip to help mend relations between Australia and Israel.

Mark Dreyfus is the federal Attorney General. When was the last time an Australian Attorney General went to Israel on official government business?

It is so strange Albo chose to send Mark Dreyfus. Is he over there to talk about law and justice issues?

No, he has been sent because he is the only Jew in the cabinet.

This is such an insult. Albo sending the Jew to clean up his mess. How tokenistic.

But don't worry, Israeli members of the Knesset see straight through what is happening and while Mark Dreyfus will be received in a polite manner, there won't be much to discuss. The reality is the issues between Australia and Israel are foreign affairs issues. Mark Dreyfus isn't the foreign minister.

A lot of Jews in Australia are disgusted with Mark Dreyfus. He has said nothing about the anti-Semitic attacks. He has not used Commonwealth criminal law against perpetrators (such as using a carriage service).

A lot of Australian Jews see him as a JINO (Jew In Name Only). Kind of like the moderate republicans which are called RINOs.

Liberal MP Julian Leeser has accused Penny Wong of not believing in Western values and being openly hostile towards Israel, as former Labor minister Mike Kelly says Australia is putting its trade interests at risk by not backing the Jewish state.

Mr Leeser criticised the Foreign Minister for repeatedly calling for a “premature ceasefire” in Gaza, instructing her diplomats to vote for UN resolutions placing Australia at odds with the US and refusing to clarify whether Australia would enforce an ICC arrest warrant issued for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

As the Israel-Hamas war stokes division within the Labor Party, Mr Leeser said Senator Wong’s record on the Middle East had revealed her “blind spot” when it came to Israel that was “impeding our national interest”.

“This lack of faith in our shared Western values, has meant the Foreign Minister has been consistently and openly hostile to the only democracy in the Middle East,” Mr Leeser writes in The Australian.

Listing Senator Wong’s “missteps”, which he says have seen Australia’s foreign policy “lurch away from our allies and our longstanding values”, Mr Leeser pointed to her withdrawal of Australia’s recognition of Jerusalem as the capital, her decision to fund UNRWA and her calls on Israel to exercise restraint.

Mr Leeser, a Jewish MP, said Senator Wong had overseen a “fraying of this Australian consensus on many fronts” by shifting against its democratic allies, including Israel, and demonstrated her “quiet contempt” by refusing to visit massacre sites on her official trip to the country.

He also criticised her inadequate support for Ukraine in its fight to repel Russian forces, including by ignoring the country’s request for Taipan helicopters and repeated requests for coal.

Penny Dreadful.

Maybe he's on a round trip - headed to London to dismiss Smith (like Peter Radcliffe went to dismiss that Marines Major holding up a road party into Iraq), and then on to Washington (DC) to dismiss Ruddski.... thing is - we don't really want them back.... but Rudd could snipe at Trump from over here in safety while writing another book etc about how Gillard undermined him etc ... and Smith could go out and work among the Aborigines or something.. do some good for a change....

You all need to wonder why there is any 'division' over the vile attack on Israeli citizens by Hamas and the justice served out to those attackers to date....  this country has a desperate need to grow some balls again....

Graffiti is an offence and expensive when done to a car. Swastikas have been around forever as favourite graffiti sign (also penis). Arson is a crime. All these have appropriate penalties in courts.

It's a bit wonky to make a special offence of anti-Semitism as something shocking. It would be strange to say 'anti-Italian theft' or 'anti-Russian arson'. A punch-up is never described as 'anti-Queensland' and so on. Laws are never written that way.

Labor’s most senior Jewish minister, Attorney-General Mark Dreyfus, will direct his supporters to give their second vote to an anti-Israel Greens candidate in his safe Victorian Labor seat of Isaacs.

Mr Dreyfus, who sits on a comfortable 9.5 per cent margin, has instructed his supporters to preference the Greens candidate despite previously slamming the party for inciting potentially violent anti-Israel protests outside MPs’ offices and failing to condemn terror group Hamas.

“I think that the Greens political party, and particularly the leader of the Greens political party, have got something to answer for here in the way that they have been encouraging criminal damage of MPs electorate offices, encouraging really riotous behaviour, sometimes violent behaviour, that has been occurring outside electorate offices,” Mr Dreyfus told the ABC at the time.

And in September, Mr Dreyfus attacked the Greens for its repeated failures to condemn the actions of Gazan terror group Hamas since the October 7 massacres and its holding of hostages.

“We have yet to hear a proper condemnation of Hamas from Greens Party senators. It’s amazing that I should state that here in Australia in 2024,” he said in Sydney.

To be fair they can hardly send Penny Wong ( who’s job it is) after she not only supporting Hamas in the media but also with our taxpayer money via corrupt aid agencies.

Israeli would throw her in jail on arrival.

Is there a special offence of burning a Muslim man's wife alive in a car?

I'd reckon that is an act of terror - requiring that all the Usual Suspects be rounded up, 'renditioned' to Gondwanamo Bay (Gon'Mo), and put to the question.... crack one and the rest fall like dominoes - then give them a fair trial, a fair verdict, a fair sentencing - and a fair deportation or exile... without this rigmarole of 'appeals' up the Khyber all the time...

You gave that woman no appeal - and everyone here knows I hold no dog in the coon hunt for the Muslims - so you get what you earned off your own bat, Ach-med!!  Goneski, Gon'Mo and Gone Forever.... one way or the other.
