Congratulations Steve Smith
Jan 30th, 2025 at 1:05pm

Steve Smith reached 10,000 runs  and then went onto score his 35th test century. Recently rated by Ponting as the worlds best batsman of his generation.

An amazing batsman who dumbfounded all the critics with his unorthodox style is getting close to being second best to Bradman.

Would have loved to see Konstas play in this series but I can see the selectors have put Head as opener due to his previous performances and given the chance to Inglis to make his mark. This is a good idea to blood a middle order batsman and we know that Konstas will be in the wings when needed.

Not hard to score big runs on a pissy small field that can't even give room for a lot of spectators.

So we can't read anything into Inglis's innings then?.

Labuschagne is only 30 so he could be around for another 6-7 years, Khawaja is 38 so I think Konstas will replace Khawaja.

Khawaja out for 232, great innings, I think Australia should bat on until lunch tomorrow if they can. Use scoreboard pressure because they won't get much from the pitch.

Just saw the best run out in cricket history!

Guy sweeps hard. Hits shortie in the helmet, which ricocheted off the helmet and straight onto stumps. Batsman was out of his crease and given out. Shortie in the helmet was out cold. 😆🤣😂

Sorry, on phone. Can't post link

Happened to me once, indoor cricket though, guy comes down the pitch and drives the ball hitting me square in the forehead and ricocheting back onto the stumps running him out. I had the imprint of the stitching on my forehead for a couple of days.

My only cricket oddity was when batting against spin. The keeper was right up and had a big mouth. Somehow I fluked a very late swing and smashed his gloved hands catching the ball. Seemed to work. He kept his mouth shut after that.

Let's ask Cricket expert Aussie: What do you think of grounds like that one in Sri Lanka that support ridiculous high scoring a with such short boundaries?
