Tariff madness and it affects us too indirectly - lowering the Aussie dollar and hitting our Super funds and sharemarket -this might mean the RBA does not cut rates here on Feb 18th.

Thanks America.  Angry

Countries had been warned…

About Trade imbalances
About running Illegal Aliens through their country into the US
About flooding drugs into the US from their country…

Aww, please...

The tariffs have nothing to do with trade imbalances with Canada and Mexico, nor illegal aliens, or drugs...

For a start, Mexico is not Australia - it doesn't take it up the arse from the US - Mexico could retaliate by opening the northern border and allowing a tsunami of immigrants to enter the US... Why isn't that happening? And it's not because the US would invade Mexico - which would cause a catastrophic economic situation in the US.

Fentanyl from Canada accounts for less than 1% of it entering the US... so... 25% tariffs?

Trade imbalances? Mexico's demography places it the best in the world for the US to exploit... so... 25% tariffs? For what?

I'm guessing to stop American companies moving their manufacturing bases into these countries.

Too late for that... they're already there...

More like to have them move back to the US...

Mexico has a demographic advantage over the US... it's 20+ years behind the US in its industrialisation which means its birth rate was higher at the crucial time for the maturing of a demographic cohort of right-aged workers.

So like Trump you've abandoned the entire cost of living set of promises that got him elected in the first place.

In less than 2 weeks since he took office no less.

That has to be some sort of record.

So when the prices rise, we slap a Trump "I did this sticker" on it, with your full support Frank.

After all,

If he'd stop doing stupid things... Sure.

But the way he's implementing the tariffs, with what should have been done BEFORE he signed the EOs being counter to Project 2025's demands so they're unlikely to ever see the light of day, that means all he has is tariffs.

It is stupid.

Just like he claims those countries will be paying them.

It is stupid.

I'm glad you can see that.

If people make enough noise, he might back down, he's a populist after all.

The alternative?

We just laugh as they go into a recession?

No, because, like the moves he's already making, it hurts us here.

Stop cheering for someone who is going to make our lives more difficult, just to own the libs.  It's not worth it.

Your not looking at the big picture, Trump said he would bring down prices starting on day one. Trump on day one started the process of bringing down the prices by putting tariffs on his biggest trading partners. They will respond in kind, now they have their own problems because prices will rise in their countries too. Trump will force them into restructuring the imports and exports to favor America more than it does now. This closing of the gap between imports and exports will bring down the imbalance America have and reduce the debt. America cannot keep going the way it is.

Not sure if it's here - but the Eld Gel showed me a blurb that included that Trump's tariffs had created consternation in the 'global economy'.....

That would appear to be his ultimate aim.....

Now somebody - other than Andrei Hicks who benefits from it so well - actually explain to me the wonders of the global economy...

Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

you're a fool if you think Trumps tariff war is going to bring down prices. Inflation in the US is about to go through the roof and you can thank Trump and his tariffs for it

“When I win, I will immediately bring prices down, starting on Day One,” the rapist and convicted felon said at the time.

But Day One has turned into Day Seven, and those eggs are getting even more expensive.

Despite a flurry of executive actions, Trump’s price-related promises have gone unfulfilled.

Trump said, and I quote:

"When I win, I will immediately bring prices down, starting on Day One."

Not, I will start the process of price reduction, it was he'd bring them down starting day one.

Prices should be going down already, not up as they have been.

And the big picture is terrifying.  Taffis and project 2025 wanting less Government intervention in the private sector in terms of not only regulation but funding and subsidies.

How is be going to rebuild local sectors if he's going to deregulate them further and offer no incentives or protections for private investment and cut back on public subsidies?

The big picture is a hellscape, it makes what he's doing right now just look like the stupidity of a clown.

Trumpet is like a mad bull in a frikken China shop!
Yes sure prices have come down, and the cryptocurrency as one area…totally plummeted in a hell hole! FMD!  Angry
Just that alone has affected so many of us little people far and wide world wide! Millions of us.
The hundreds of comments I’m reading are not happy. Quite sad as I feel for so many of these young ones are hurting.  Embarrassed
No one saw this coming right?
