Candana and Mexico did the right thing to protect not only their own people from Trump's recklessness but the American people too.

They needed protecting from their own President...

Canada and Mexico should be applauded and the US people should be afraid of what Trump will use them as bargaining chips for next.

Do stuntmen get applauded for staging a 'fight'?

Do actors playing Eisenhower and Churchill get applauded for successfully executing Operation Overlord in a film?

You're comparing the a movie flop to forcing the US into a recession because you didn't get your way and were too childish to back down?

TDS.

You're assuming, at least, that Trudeau and Sheinbaum have the US people at heart before their own people...

The pantomime was choreographed weeks before the event.

That's how Canada and Mexico were Johnnies-on-the-spot with tariff-stopping deals before they started. Democratic leaders can't whip up multi-billion dollar deals without their respective legislatures endorsing them... that takes more than 15 minutes.

Mexico Folds: Sending Troops to Secure Border to Avoid Trump Tariffs
Mexico’s President Claudia Sheinbaum agreed to send 10,000 troops to its northern border as one of the ways to stop a 25 percent tariff from the Trump administration temporarily. The concession comes after days of grandstanding by the Mexican president, who publicly claimed she would stand up for her country’s sovereignty.

On Monday morning, U.S. President Donald J. Trump announced that Mexico had agreed to send 10,000 military troops to its northern border to stop illegal immigration and fentanyl smuggling. The move allowed Mexico to avoid new tariffs for one month. During that month, officials from both countries would work on a new “deal” between the two countries.

A new deal, eh??

🚨TARIFF UPDATES:
Canada has now caved in too.

Trudeau will also reinforce the border to stop the flow of illegal drugs into America.

Trump’s tariffs are an absolute stroke of GENIUS.

Trump did an in-depth assessment of Trump and discovered a genius. This must be true as Trump says it and he's a genius, says Trump.

There is one problem I see.

For manufacturers  - let's say Mercedes cars -

It would years to set up a factory in the  USA.
With the Chips Act Biden had to pay
$billions to get the chip companies to set
up in the USA.

It's not going to happen under Trump.
Mercedes will tell him to go jump in the lake.

Trump doesn't care about how much the decisions he makes will cost the tax payers.  It's not like he'll be around to have to deal with it, and even if he was, he never pays his bills anyway.

So, what's in it for Mexico and Canada that Sheinbaum and Trudeau would collaborate in a pantomime that portrays Trump as the tough-guy action man even at the cost of their and their countries looking like they took it up the clack?

Wins?

It's a humiliating defeat for Trump.

He's not imposing the tariffs.

In exchange for his reputation, which Canada has now destroyed.

Tough-guy rapist said he was definitely gonna slap tariffs on Canada, but now he's backed right down.

Canada = 1

Trump = nil

Trump said the tariffs were needed because:

Unfair Trade Practices – He claimed that both countries were taking advantage of the U.S. through trade agreements like NAFTA, which he argued led to manufacturing job losses, particularly in the auto and steel industries.

National Security (Section 232 Tariffs) – Trump imposed steel and aluminium tariffs on Canada and Mexico under the pretext of national security, despite the countries being U.S. allies. Critics saw this as an excuse rather than a legitimate security concern.

Leverage for USMCA – The tariffs were also used as a bargaining tool to pressure Canada and Mexico into renegotiating NAFTA, which resulted in the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA).

Stopping Outsourcing – He wanted to discourage American companies from shifting production to Mexico for cheaper labour, especially in the auto industry.

Reducing the Trade Deficit – Trump argued that tariffs would help reduce the U.S. trade deficit by encouraging domestic production.

So does this mean they were lies, or Trump no longer cares about Unfair trade practices, national security, reducing the trade deficit or protecting American jobs?

And then there are what his supporters thought and voted on:

You're going to need to explain to MAGA fanatics like her, that she'll have to pay taxes again...

'A protection racket is a type of racket and a scheme of organized crime perpetrated by a potentially hazardous organized crime group that generally guarantees protection outside the sanction of the law to another entity or individual from violence, robbery, ransacking, arson, vandalism, and other such threats, in exchange for payments at regular intervals. Each payment is called "protection money" or a "protection fee". An organized crime group determines an affordable or reasonable fee by negotiating with each of its payers, to ensure that each payer can pay the fee on a regular basis and on time. Protections rackets can vary in terms of their levels of sophistication or organization; it is not uncommon for their operations to emulate the structures or methods used by tax authorities within legitimate governments to collect taxes from taxpayers.'

Trump had the edge on the New York concrete business and now the Americas import trade deals.

pretty much

part of trumps appeal is that "goody 2 shoes' like biden just get taken advantage of by other countries

the people want someone who would not be out of place as a mob lawyer.

someone who would fight dirty on their behalf

thats why they elected trump

he's THEIR dirty scumbag lawyer and they love him for it. Wink

why do you think the guy acts so gross and sees his popularity grow?

how would biden have gone as a convicted rapist facing 34 lawsuits?

what works against goody 2 shoes politicians works in favour of the legitimate guy.

trump freely acts the corrupt politician

as the only politician who is honest about this, he gets the benefit of authenticity and congruence and his foes get the problem of hypocricy.

look at joe, not just pardoning hunter but pardoning his brothers and sisters and neices and nephews on his last day in office.

they are all hypocrites except for the big fella

if trump was caught with lewinsky, he wouldnt have got his wife to try to destroy her

he would have cheekily said, striaght to camera "when youre a star they let you grab them by the pussy"

and millions of white black and latino men would have said

"youre freeaking awesome donny"  Cheesy
