In reality is about money.  Post WW1 Germany were plagued by war time debt.  There is simple not enough money to full fill Hitler's dream of greater Germany.  If he prints money, then inflation will kill his dream.  So he used a scapegoat - the Jews.  Which had happened countless amount of times in all of Europe throughout its history.  And with that, he is able to secure enormous amount of stolen wealth.  He also used the Jews initially as free slave labour to keep up war time production.   At the end, as the war spread.  He can no longer spare enough man power or money to contain the Jewish prisoners in occupied territory.   And so a final solution had to be found.  And the rest is history. 

The wishy washy religious feel good stuff you talked about, is merely how the rulers control the masses of uneducated.

Now,  if Trump could  establish a just society in the US, with an economy which works for all Americans, without hindering development in other nations, the world might sit up and notice.....

(It's  actually what I think the Chinese will achieve first, but I'm open to whoever gets there first.)

iow, an inspiring leader overseeing  an effective government in the most powerful nation,   and urging  the  rest of the world to follow suit , rather than requiring submission of all nations to rule of (international) law "to save mankind from the scourge  of war"  - the UN vision.
