You do realise the soft control these aid programs gives the US and the influence this gives them in these regions will go away right?
More wars and military conflicts under Trump?
Yay?
Wait....
Yeah I think that what it is about. You can't pay other countries to do the right thing, because paying other countries to do anything is bad even if its good. It introduces corruption because the act itself is corrupt. History tells us when you distribute aid very little gets to the people that the aid is intended for. It creates another layer of bureaucracy to countries rife with bureaucratic corruption.
You can't keep doing the same crap and expecting things to be better.
We were endlessly lectured that
Trump would be the great anti-war candidate, the only one standing between us and the apocalypse Harris would supposedly unleash with WW3.
Yet, in just two weeks,
he is trying to systematically dismantle every diplomatic tool the US once had, alienated allies, failed
his grandiose promise to end the war in Ukraine "on day one," and is now openly
fantasising about annexing Canada and occupying Gaza. Even his harshest critics underestimated how
reckless he'd be.
We knew
he'd be pro-Trade Wars, but we didn't expect
him to back down and fold in such a humiliating way. But actual war..?
So where are the self-proclaimed anti-war crusaders, Bobby, the rest of the cheer squad, who swore
Trump would be our shield against global conflict? Why the deafening silence, or worse, the outright applause for
his warmongering?
It's almost as if there's
some sort of syndrome at play
, one that compels people to abandon their principles and their beliefs, twist themselves into ideological pretzels, and cheer for
Trump no matter how catastrophically
he betrays their supposed beliefs or his pledges to them.
Curious, isn't it?
