Albo should have told Trump when he spoke to him by phone that if Trump did not exclude Australia from the 25% tariff on steel and aluminium, we will cancel the $800m we are paying for the AUKUS deal a few days ago, pull out of the entire deal and go it alone with the Brits, which will cost the Yanks billions in lost revenue from purchasing used Virginia class nuclear-powered attack submarines. The only thing that Trump understands is strength. He's a bully and you don't let a bully push you around - you push them back. Simply saying "please don't tariff our steel" won't do a thing. Time for Albo to finally grow a pair.

Albo just needs to threaten our own tariffs, then "back down" by offering to provide enhanced air cooperation, maritime cooperation, and the establishment of combined logistics, sustainment, and maintenance enterprises to support high-end warfighting and combined military operations in the Asia-Pacific region as a concession.

It doesn't matter that we're already doing that under USFPI.

Trump doesn't know that.

It worked for Canada and Mexico. Trump is an easy mark, so long as you can flatter him and inflate his ego while you're manipulating him.

We saw how effective it was for Netanyahu, getting everything he wanted and had Trump announce it, we'll likely see the same outcome after Trump meets with Putin, Albo should be able to do the same.
