Election May 3rd 2025

Anthony Albanese to call the federal election on Friday:
Australians expected to head to the polls on May 3

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese is set to call the election tomorrow morning
meaning Australians likely have just five weeks before heading to the polls.

Several government sources confirmed Albanese will visit Governor-General Sam Mostyn’s residence in Canberra tomorrow morning to finally set the date.

The prime minister has always said he wanted to run a five-week election campaign
meaning Australians will likely head to the polls on May 3.

Albanese had initially hoped to hold the federal election on April 12
but ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred, which smashed Queensland earlier this month, derailed that plan.

Countdown is on to the budget reply

By Courtney Gould

If the treasurer delivers the budget speech why isn’t it the shadow treasurer who delivers the reply?

- Phillip

Great question Phillip. I've asked around, and if I'm being honest, nobody really knows.

It's probably because a budget reply isn't actually a real budget so it doesn't really matter who delivers it. So why not give the moment to the opposition leader.

It's probably something to do with the Brits though.

The budget reply begins at 7.30 pm. It'll be streamed live on the ABC

I'll be heading to the polls two weeks before that.

As soon as the early voting booth locations are announced, I'll be casting my vote (for my local Labor representative).

And you're going to vote for your local Liberal member, so that makes you a rusted on Liberal automaton.

What's your point?

I will vote for an Independent.

Labor will be put last.

Albo has gotta go.

Someone said we could not judge a person's Aboriginality on their skin colour.  Why isn't that applied in the matter of Pascoe?  Tsk, tsk, tsk...   Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

Calling all Australian Patriots -

let's do our best on Ozpolitic to turn Albo into a one term loser.

I will put a vote in for labor in the house of reps.  Then a vote for the Australian Greens in the Senate.   Smiley

But how would that stop Albo's mass immigration policies?

I'll vote early too, but not that early.

Will be interesting to see who the candidates are in my area, even though we're a Liberal walkover.

I'm keen to see what Independants stand and what they're platforms are.

Well it will help stop a Dutton government winning the election, with their dangerous and expensive nuclear plans.   Sad
