Have u the Trump tariff terrors tonight?
Apr 2nd, 2025 at 9:06pm

I feel strangely concerned.
I’m ok myself thank you Jack but I’m not immune to the daily and every increasing suffering on display in my neighbourhood and the CBD street’s.

I really believe it’s at breaking point now and one more price rise will push people over the edge and they may act in ways never seen before in this country.
Worse maybe than the pandemic protests.

Anyway, have a lovely evening. Eat laugh and be merry for tomorrow……….?

Australia is boring. We need some riots to liven things up.

The tariffs will make no difference for us.

They are the same for all countries so it just means the Yanks will pay more not us.

I disagree.
Everyone needs to stay calm and work together.
Buying locally, every five dollars you spend going around ten times in your community.

It’s just very tough for those without five dollars to spend in the first place 😢

Unless the Yanks can source supplies directly from the USA with no tariffs -
which I doubt then what I've said is correct.

From Google AI -

In 2024, the United States' apparent consumption of aluminum totaled about 4.3 million metric tons.
Here's a more detailed breakdown:

Apparent Consumption:

The total amount of aluminum available for use in the U.S., which includes domestic production and imports, was 4.3 million metric tons in 2024.

Imports:

The U.S. imported about 4.8 million metric tons of aluminum for consumption in 2024.
Domestic Production:

In 2023, the U.S. produced 860 thousand metric tons of aluminum from refined metal ore (primary production), with the industry also recycling 3.4 million tons of aluminum.

Secondary Production:

In 2023, the U.S. recycled 3.4 million tons of aluminum.
Reliance on Imports:
The U.S. is heavily reliant on aluminum imports, with a significant portion coming from Canada.

Wait till the customs bureaucracy is required to fathom out which items incur tariffs and/or how much an item should be tariffed...

😍 love it!

I forgot this involved government bureaucracies!

It’s all okay.

I can sleep in peace. This will take years to untangle and then it will still be wrong!

Thank goodness for the public service.

I saw a 2 litre bottle of Jim Beam for $24.95 last time in the US.
How much do we pay for that here after our government puts their hands in our pockets to jack the price up?

Trump isn't going to impact us with his tariffs our dollar is so low it isn't going to make much difference in the US for consumers.

No.  I'm simply watching with bated breath to see what happens... no point sweating over it... no point chasing one social science illusion after another - after all - economics is under social sciences, and if it was so good, we'd all have been in clover generations ago instead of the growing economic and social mess amounting to utter disaster at the national and personal level they are making of it with every utterance.   Cool

Experts are a dime a dozen and not worth that dime.

Until the profits head into tax havens of one kind or another and thus are removed from going round and round..  The propaganda that buying local will solve the nation's economic woes is just that - propaganda to calm the masses while those who actually benefit, including those pushing that line who also have hold of the reins of government in one way or another, continue to hoard dollars while everyone else spends to stay above water, is just that - propaganda.

First port of call - a full and in-depth analysis of what constitute 'tax havens' - and then their removal one by one so as to guarantee genuine equal treatment under the tax laws, as is required under Law.

Offshore tax havens/onshore tax havens - such as those that benefit property hoarders over home owners... such as the parasite with an 8' x 10' office in the Bwahahamas Republic while  jetting around the world first class  between Monaco, the Alps and all fine points ... while psychopathically disregarding the real impact on those below...

Remember what I said about Albo?  He either does not know the dreadful harm his 'policy platform' is doing for the many - or he knows and doesn't give a rat's.......same with these guys.

Country could do with a decent overthrow - I prefer the democratic way of voting all the assholes out, but if Georgia marches - then I march with her...

Remember Admiral Turner when he took over the CIA - his biggest battle over 3-4 years was against the death drag of deliberate bureaucratic inertia.... he could hardly expect a report anywhere near on time.... they just dragged their feet and slowed down perhaps needed change in their black ops and other direct action areas, waiting for a future 'conservative' to get in and loose the dogs anew .....  Cool

If stuff costs more less will be bought. That is how tariffs affect exporters.

For starters, you said:

This is incorrect.

He could easily plunge the entire world economy into recession. There is no way to escape the broader impacts.
