For starters, you said:

Quote:
They are the same for all countries

This is incorrect.

I thought all aluminium imports to the USA now attract a 25% tariff?      Undecided

Maybe it is, but there are plenty of other new tariffs.

“ Richardson condemned the Morrison government’s decision in 2020 to house the stockpile of crude oil in the US.

“It’s an absolute joke to have our national fuel stockpile being held in the United States,” he said.

“That’s a really important issue for us. It’ll be interesting to see whether the defence strategic review conducted by [former Labor defence minister] Stephen Smith and [former defence chief] Angus Houston has addressed that issue. It certainly needs to be.””

“ The Guardian.

Australia is never going to see a single drop of that petrol.
Trump takes our money for nothing and Scomo gave him our strategic petrol reserves for free!

Roger Cook says sweeping tariffs placed on all foreign imports into the US are prompting the WA government to "double down" on its strategy to manufacture locally.

See all you need to do is take a positive attitude, screaming and crying because the US is imposing tariffs only shows how much you relied on the US apron strings.

Definition of TDS

Fareed Zakaria defined the syndrome as "hatred of President Trump so intense that it impairs people's judgment".

But we lack the expertise to build vehicles-

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2025-04-03/car-brands-could-pull-models-nves-trump-t...

“ In short:
Some car makers are weighing whether to lift prices or pull models from July, when carbon emission laws for the sector will become enforceable.
The industry is facing uncertainty after US President Donald Trump's tariff announcement, and say the scheme should be revisited.”

“ Abc

So down comes the choice of car’s but  up the cost goes by 10 to 24% from July.

Just what the nation needs, our primary mode of transportation being limited and increasing in price to protect the environment that China is destroying?

The emissions we are reducing is roughly equal to the amount China increase’s every year.

Maybe they live in a different atmosphere?

Watching the Lefty Australians cry about America's tariffs is like watching losers cry because their Dole money has been cancelled and now they gotta work.

Is Trump saying that he has banned importation of Australian beef?

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2025-04-03/australian-beef-singled-out-in-donald-tru...

Trump,
Quote:
"Australia bans — and they're wonderful people, and wonderful everything — but they ban American beef.

"Yet we imported $[US]3 billion [$4.8 billion] of Australian beef from them just last year alone.

"They won't take any of our beef.

"They don't want it because they don't want it to affect their farmers and, you know, I don't blame them but we're doing the same thing right now, starting at midnight tonight, I would say."

As our 🍋 lemons/ leaders sit in frozen shock unable to either protect or even mount a weak comeback to the USA it will be character proving when the Trump tower of tariffs collapsed from other countries actions and our pathetic politicians start fist pumping and yelling they took him out.

If stuff costs more less will be bought. That is how tariffs affect exporters.

Exactly. It seems USA will suffer economically … particularly for sellers. Some years ago, we bought a part for the bobcat, could only buy ex army from USA.
They (people) had this deal with very cheap postage anywhere outside of USA to help with expanding business/sales etc. That part to come to Au was less than $20 but for us to post to USA was $120.
I know this because I got a quote if needing to return part.
Reason we considered returning was… like toilet water, everything spins opposite!
But hubby was able to pull apart the item to get it to reverse spin.

Anyway, I wonder how things are working out for the little sellers now?

So far, biggest one day downturn since 2022.

One day and more countdown/meltdown?
Didn’t Warren Buffet pull all his money out earlier knowing this would happen?

Cryptocurrency is doing no better!
Everything in the red figures!

I have a question, what makes Trumpet man thinks he’s so good at business?
Canada are wiping their hands of America.
Australia will do trade deals with other countries other than America.
Weird how he says Australia’s not interested importing USA beef but want to export AU beef to us.
If our beef industry is going good, why should we import from overseas?
Didn’t this happen with all orange trees pulled out of Mildura so that oranges were imported from USA?
Turned me off buying oranges!

Anyway….This USA tariff thing seems to be doing damage.
