How far back in history do the welcome to country go, anyone know?.
Ask Brendan Kerin - the racist part Aboriginal activist who did the WTC at the AFL Grand Final last year.
He reckons they've been doing them since 250,000 years BC (before Cook) and they aren't for the benefit of white people.
Never mind that it's 180,000 years before modern humans left Africa - they hadn't even fully evolved then.
Brendan must have also forgot who was paying for his so called (unwelcome) WTC & if it wasn't for white peoples benefit why was he doing it and taking the money?
Welcome to Country was popularised by Ernie Dingo and Richard Walley in the mid 1970's when they were asked by a touring Pacific Island dance troupe for a traditional welcome or they wouldn't perform.
Since then it's become all the rage by Aboriginal groups & is now claimed to be an ancient tradition.
