Significant points from the pdf:
1. Schulow believes in "liberal, individual-centric, free-market democracies"
2. He's a vocal critic of accounting firm PwC, the supermarket duopoly, and the major banks.
3. "I don't want tp sound like a lefty Marxist - I'm not"
4. "We need a competition regulator ...to break up the Coles-Woolworths duopoly; there are 14 major supermakets in the EU, 12 in the US.....
5. Schulow says he will (if elected to the Senate) forcefully grill company execs and regulators, in commitees he thinks are too soft; but he acknowleges senators David Pocock(independent) and Barbara Pocock (Greens), and Liberal Andrew Bragg, as effective interrogators.
......
That's enough for me - he won't be getting my vote, because (to the above points):
1. Free market failure abounds in our complex globalized economy, just ask Trump; and also renters who can't afford rents in the private-sector, market-based policies which regard housing as a private investment vehicle.
2. Spot on - I agree on this point.
3. ...no kidding.....
4. The very outcome of 'free market' capitalist competition is small firms being swallowed up by more efficient ones.
5. Barbara Pocock is a former central bank employee (like Carney in Canada who will be as useless for young Canadians who can't afford housing as his Conservative opponent; they are all signed up to central bank neoliberal/neoclassical orthodoxy which is the cause of the economic dysfunction we see all around the world today.
Thanks for informing me sufficently, to be able to put Schulow well down on the ballot paper.
[It's too funny to see gnads, greggory, and bobby arguing over who is the 'deranged lefty', a classic case of the 'blind leading the blind'....
Neoclassical economists have them all by the 'short 'n curlies'....
