Interest not declared

Peter Dutton failed to disclose he was the beneficiary of a family trust

In short:

Opposition Leader Peter Dutton was the beneficiary of a family trust for two years, but did not disclose this to parliament.

Four Corners investigated property records for both leaders, finding Mr Dutton's family, with his father Bruce, made almost $15 million over 20 years.

Documents show Mr Dutton's family also had a long business history with former childcare mogul Eddy Groves and his family.

It's on 4-Corners tonight. The Dutton train-wreck is about to unfold !!

Dutton is toast !!

Quote:
The investigation also analysed more than 20 years of property records tied up in complicated and opaque trust structures and found that the Dutton family, with Peter Dutton's father Bruce, made almost $15 million in profit from buying and selling private childcare businesses as well as dozens of residential property deals.

Quote:
We've discovered that since 2002, the Dutton family made millions from multiple childcare business dealings with a group closely linked to controversial ABC Learning mogul Eddy Groves — the man at the centre of one of Australia's biggest corporate collapses.

The RHT Family Trust was responsible for the final business transaction with a group closely linked to Mr Groves and his family.

The sale was signed on May 20, 2022, the day before the last federal election and 10 days before Mr Dutton became opposition leader.

I will watch it and make my own mind up.

I find it hard to believe if it’s true why he hasn’t been referred to the National Anti-Corruption Commission?

Have they actually investigated anyone yet?

It's old news though.

Mr Dutton disclosed to parliament the existence of this trust on his register of interests in April 2014, but this declaration listed only his wife as having an interest in the trust and noted that the trust had purchased a childcare business.
Mr Dutton's declaration on the register did not mention he was a beneficiary.

It was not until two years later in August 2016 that Mr Dutton declared on the register his beneficiary status in the trust, when he lodged his first register of interest in the newly elected Turnbull government.

The issue was again addressed in 2018.

In that year, Mr Dutton's interest in the RHT Family Trust came under scrutiny over whether its receipt of federal government childcare subsidies may have caused him to be in breach of a section of the constitution that prohibits MPs doing business with the Commonwealth.

Mr Dutton denied the allegations, saying he had obtained legal advice in 2017 confirming he was not in breach.

The solicitor-general Stephen Donaghue QC, who was asked to provide advice on the matter, found that Mr Dutton was not in breach.

Why dredge it up again now?

Lot of that going on..... on all sides of politics - wherever YOUR money is going to be thrown in large denominations - the vultures on the inside - the families and spouses and friends - will gather like flies to a picnic....

Look how many politician's wives became 'self-made millionaires' by cashing in on moves in Parliament their old man was pushing and supporting.. it's the done thing...  childcare, pre-schools, non-TAFE 'education', NDIS, Aged Care... everywhere that our 'government' slings big dollars you will find their family and mates cashing in - and nobody says a word... just like Howard's stolen $232Bn future fund out of Treasury.... nobody but me says a single word about that massive theft ...**

You don't have the brains, the guts, the balls or the integrity to speak out... and you continue to vote for these assholes and support their fantasies on the side that they play to keep you distracted from the real issues...

**
Of course, part of Trumpet of Patriots (TOP)'s aim in 'bringing home the $4 Tr Super cash' ........ is bringing home that stolen $232 Bn and throwing it in the pot alongside all other funding - so that these assholes can't continue to ruin this country and impoverish its people while riding above such considerations as finding the national till empty... like everyone else is forced to ... we jsut had a Pension cut!!!  Oh, you say in Dorkworld?  Inflation allegedly 2.4% (laughable) - pension around $1100 a fortnight - rise should have equaled around $26.60 - not $4.60 - ergo - that's a Pension cut of just over $20 a fortnight - Dutto had Albo on the ropes about 'real wages' last night - the reality is that incomes for most compared to costs of living etc have blown way out of proportion against real wages.... but Albo trots out his preferential pay rises for a few sectors - but failed to even address the reality that MOST people missed out that way.

Lies, within lies...
