Someone said we could not judge a person's Aboriginality on their skin colour.  Why isn't that applied in the matter of Pascoe?  Tsk, tsk, tsk...   Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

Sad news.

First time I remember seeing her was when she played Saavik in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (1982) which was her feature film debut.

RIP Kirstie Alley.

Sad news. I've always been a fan.

My first encounter with her was playing a plantation owner's daughter turned fanatical abolitionist in North and South ... a miniseries set during the Civil War ...  in the '80s..Ii watched with my mum as a kid and we loved it. It's a very fond memory. It also introduced us to Patrick Swayze, who played her love interest.

She was excellent.

Then of course went on to show she had real comedy talent too.

And throughout all of the poo she was put through, she remained humane, thoughtful and absolutely full of integrity.

Vale. Hope she passed peacefully.

The first I was aware of was Look who's talking. I did see her play Savvik first but didn't know who she was then.

She was in so many shows.

Saavik also appeared in Star Trek III: The Search for Spock (1984) and Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home (1986) but she was played by Robin Curtis in both of those films.

She had this recognisable face in that movie, I recall thinking. This was when the television networks went through the Star Trek feature movies (just prior to Star Trek 5 being released in theatre). And there was the soon-to-be-released "Look Who's Talking". I think this was 1989. I cannot recall watching a whole episode of "Cheers". So, I would not have known that Alley was in the show.

I think the fascination with Alley finished in the 1990s. Alley had an issue with her weight that got her to begin a weight loss program. After that, I heard about her here and then. RIP Kirstie.

Apparently Kirstie Alley didn't want to return to play Saavik in the third and fourth Star Trek movies because she was concerned about being "typecast" in much the same way as Leonard Nimoy would always be known as Spock by most people.
