50 x more deadly then the flu?

i'm calling BS on that figure

Yeah, I might have to agree with you for once.

OK, let's do the math, shall we?

https://twitter.com/LettersfromTim/status/1669932438846578688

Quote:
National notification data (NNDSS):
In the year-to-date, of the 85,986 notifications of laboratory-confirmed influenza, there have been 78 influenza-associated deaths notified to the NNDSS.

Versus

4,159 COVID deaths since 1 Jan

78 (Flu deaths) multiplied by 50 equals 3,900 (Covid deaths).

78 (Flu deaths) multipled by 53 equals 4,134 (Covid deaths).

78 (Flu deaths) multiplied by 54 equals 4,212 (Covid deaths).

So, Covid is closer to between 53 and 54 times more deadly than the flu, not 50.

Thanks for pointing that out.

doesnt pass the pub test,  try again

At-risk populations:
• In the year-to-date, notification rates have been highest in people aged 05–09 years,
followed by those aged 0–04 years and 10–14 years.

influenza targets our most precious population as can be seen.

a baby dying of influenza equates to 80 yrs of valuable life lost and devestated parents.

an 80 yo ( the averge age of someone dying WITH covid) equates to someone finding peace thanks to "the old mans best friend"  and maybe a year or two of lost life (and a blessing in many cases).

doesnt pass the pub test.

the community are way way way more concerned with sick children then old codgers

go down the pub and ask (wear a mask though  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes)

you can get the latest footy score on the eagles whilst you are there and engage with some "real" australians

Back from the pub so soon?

Looks like you ordered (another) word salad with your beer.  Smiley

And please stop your obsession with the Eagles. You're just embarrassing yourself but at least I'm getting a good laugh.

I don't bother following the footy but I do know that this year the West Coast Eagles are more hopeless than your hero John "Mr. Science with the permanently constipated look on his face" Gerrard even though I never believed it was possible.

I haven't seen anything that says you can't have any more than 5 Covid vaccinations at this stage.

There's no limit on how many you can have, just as long as it's been six months since your last one.

They are just like flu vaccinations now, except you get them every six months rather than every 12 months.

Thanks Greg.

I wonder if I should ask Sir Nail for his thoughts about getting another Covid vaccination?  Undecided

Oh, for Sir Nail... we're talking about this in case you're not sure.

What word was removed from the dictionary 2023?

2023 Banished Words List
* GOAT. The acronym for Greatest of All Time gets the goat of petitioners and judges for overuse, misuse, and uselessness. ...
* Inflection point. ...
* Quiet quitting. ...
* Gaslighting. ...
* Moving forward. ...
* Amazing. ...
* Does that make sense
* Irregardless
* Absolutely
* It is what it is

I’m glad that last one was removed!
But mainly these were removed for annoying overuse.

There's no way gaslighting should be removed seeing as it's been in use every day for over a year and a half now by our governments with their BSing (almost) everyone into believing Covid is no longer "exceptional" and should be treated "like any other respiratory illness".

And then proceeding to almost completely ignore it (along with it's ongoing hospitalisations, deaths and long Covid).

I suppose you could consider that "annoying overuse" though.

If it has been removed then I have to say it's a remarkable achievement seeing as Covid is currently 53.32 times more deadly than the flu.

a baby dying of influenza equates to 80 yrs of valuable life lost and devastated parents.

I'd have to disagree with these two claims.  All
lives are "precious" to the families and friends of
people who succumb to influenza.  It's wrong to
make an attempt to classify one age demographic
as being somehow more "worthy" of living their life
than another.

And I'm sure than any parents of a 20- or 30-year
old child would be just as devastated as the parents
of an infant would be should they die from the flu.

Again, I disagree with this.  It marks you as a young
person still imbued with your own smug sense of
immortality.      I'll be 77 in a couple of months, and
your claims of "finding peace" and "the old man's
friend" (pneumonia) being a blessing is—frankly—offensive.

LOL... so you actually believe the muddled opinions of
a group of drunks in your local pub as some sort of
authoritative source?       Oh dear!

You reckon?   Where's your evidence?

It's of interest to me that you often denigrate old age
and make out that it's an undesirable stage of life, or
one that shouldn't be supported, or is somehow less
worthy of care and respect.  You've used the term
"old codgers" several time on this forum—which leads
me to ask why are you so afraid of growing old?

—Can I ask how old you are Aqua?

you are , of course, correct

losing a 20 or 30 yr old is just as devestating as losing a child.

as for fear of dying,  i'm not the one masking up and having 5 vaccines.

firstly, i'm still fit enough that i couldnt care 2 hoots about some respiratory virus .

secondly,  if my health was that bad that a chest infection killed me, i would welcome it.

whats the alternative??   slow rotting decay ?

not for me my friend.

and i ahve 6 grandkids so i am not some spring chicken.

i just understand how nature works and meditate on death..you should try it
