Anthony Albanese has been called out for drinking a glass of $500 red wine at a West Australian vineyard while many Aussies struggle to enjoy Christmas amid the cost-of-living crisis.

The Prime Minister enjoyed some downtime in the state's southwest this week with his partner Jodie Haydon, visiting two wineries.

He paid a visit to Cullen Wines in Margaret River where he tasted some of the 2017 Cullen Vanya Flower Day Cabernet Sauvignon which retails for $500.

Mr Albanese and Ms Haydon also stopped by the Pierro Vineyards for a tasting at L.A.S. Vino before returning to Melbourne for the memorial service of Labor MP Peta Murphy on Friday.

The PM's travels have since been criticised by WA Liberal Senator Michaelia Cash.

'Every Australian deserves a decent holiday, (but) we can't help but wonder if our Prime Minister has lost touch with the struggles of everyday Australians,' she told The West.

'Many Australians are battling with even the basics this Christmas - let alone tasting expensive bottles of wine.'

Comment:

$500 bottles of wine is no problem when other people are paying for it...champagne socialists.

I say:

Albo's mass immigration program -

1 million people since the end of Covid has caused all the battler renters
who voted for him to have massive rent increases -

property prices have skyrocketed too -

he doesn't give a stuff about Australians -
he's a traitor.

Champagne socialist

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The term references champagne as a symbol of affluence.

Champagne socialist is a political term commonly used in the United Kingdom.[1][2] It is a popular epithet that implies a degree of hypocrisy, and it is closely related to the concept of the liberal elite.[3] The phrase is used to describe self-identified anarchists, communists, socialists and liberals whose luxurious upper class or "preppy" lifestyles, metonymically including consumption of champagne, are ostensibly in conflict with their political beliefs.

Australia and New Zealand

In Australia and New Zealand, the variant "Chardonnay socialist" was used, as Chardonnay was seen as a drink of affluent people.[12][13][14] By the late 1990s, chardonnay had become more readily available and generally consumed[14] in Australia; today it is the most dominant white wine variety produced in the country. As a result, the drink's association with elitism has faded.

Staunch Australian right-wingers also used the term to deride those who supported what they considered "middle-class welfare"—government funding for the arts, free tertiary education, and the ABC.[15]

I returned from WA on Monday after visiting my old man, I brought my youngest son with me. My parents live north of Midland, we drove through the Swan Valley every day we were there. We stopped and did some tasting. Tasted ~$250 a bottle rum. What should be the issue is if the tax payer payed for it.
