Wasn't his band all about protesting for equality? Then he gets pre-selection for simply being a celebrity, and is part of the ALP. Talk about a hypocritical sell-out.

I don’t often say this about another human being, but I hate Peter Garrett and don’t have any good thoughts about him.

Yes I have archived everyday's threads for the past 15 years.
I have a whole room in my homes with nothing but external hard drives & fans( the nieghbours think I'm growing dope).

What Garrett did, is what ANY aspiring politician does
You pick the party that closest suits your values
And if you WANT to be in government, you pick one of the "big two"

This ALWAYS requires a bit of compromise - and "towing the party line" on some issues
The whole POINT of a political party is to have a united front
If you CAN'T do that, you become an independant
But you'd be VERY lucky to be elected to the Lower (Government) House
And you would NEVER be a minister

Personally, I think Garrett should have JUST been given an expanded Arts portfolio
He could have a free hand (almost) on that one, without seen to be "selling out"

I think Tony Abbott is an even bigger hypocrite. This whole situation with Reith has been grossly underreported in the media.

groaan.. I was going to ask what has Pete done now to bring him back into the limelight..but can only guess the govt is getting so boring he kind if lights up the boards again..ha.ha

are they doing polls everyday for gods sakes.
